Pan Tod MapRun Orienteering
Fancy trying orienteering?
MapRun is a phone based orienteering system that uses your phone’s GPS to record your progress through an orienteering course. There are no markers to punch, instead your phone will buzz or beep when you get close enough to the control points and your time and score is recorded automatically on your phone.
The Pan Tod (Ruardean) course is a score event – the challenge is to go to as many controls as you can in under one hour.
The map provided on MapRun is simple to understand – black lines are roads, dashed lines are paths – this is mapping simplified!
Depending how many people turn up I suggest we attempt the course in small groups or pairs to introduce an air of friendly competition!
Before the event you will need to download the MapRun6 app from your usual app store. Then locate the RUARDEAN HILL course from the menu (UK – Gloucestershire – Forerst of Dean – Ruardean Hill).
Please meet ready to go on Pan Tod Beacon at 7pm.
