Women sailing a Tall Ship on the Solent

Learn to Sail with Love Her Wild and Tall Ships YT

6-9th May 2027

£750 per person

For the third year running we will be teaming up with the amazing Tall Ships Youth Trust to run a sailing trip exclusively for Love Her Wild! This will be a real hands-on adventure sailing on a 72 foot boat – learning how to hoist sails, practise man-over-board drills and sleep in a bunk berth (don’t forget to strap yourself in!).

The charity is also kindly subsidising our trip to encourage more women to get into sailing!

Suitable for complete beginners - no experience necessary!

Life on Board

You’ll form part of the crew so there’ll be plenty to keep you busy, like ‘sweating’ the halyards to hoist the sails! There are lots of less physical jobs that need doing too, so it’s simple enough to find your own niche on board. The Tall Ships crew encourage (but never insist) you try new things, but there’s no pressure to do anything you don’t feel comfortable with.

Once at sea you can sit back and feel the wind in your sail, enjoy the stunning coastlines and maybe event take a turn at the helm. It’ll be all hands to the deck again when preparing to arrive into port.

Our route will very much be determined by the weather and sea conditions at the time, but you can expect long days at sea and a real-hands on sailing experience.

Life on board a Tall Ships Sailing Boat with Love Her Wild

It’s not all about the Sailing…

It’s about the friendships that form and laughter amongst crew mates. There’ll be games, quizes and music… alongside learning to sail!.

Everyone on board takes their turn to help out, whether that’s helping with dinner or clearing away!

Living quarters are close and compact, and that’s all part of adventure. The bunks are surprisingly comfy too!

Space is at a premium on sailing boats, so your sleeping accommodation is warm and comfortable but tightly packed. You will be allocated bunks in a shared space for sleeping. This means that you will need to be comfortable living in close quarters with your crewmates for the duration of the voyage.

To get a sense of what to expect on the boat and what you’ll need to bring, you can read the Challenger Fleet Handbook attached (note that the charity mostly run youth voyages, but our trips will be exclusively for Love Her Wild, adult women-only).

As a non-profit organisation Love Her Wild CIC has been on a mission to diversify the outdoors since 2017, by making the hills and waterways around the UK feel they belong to everyone, which is why we are inclusive to all women, including transgender women and non-binary (assigned female at birth) individuals.  We are proud to have taken tens of 1000’s of women on an adventure! We support women in the outdoors with grants and training, and create first time experiences from mountain hikes to world first expeditions!

Tall Ship YT is the UK’s oldest and largest youth development sail training charity. Over the past 65 years more than 120,000 trainees have sailed over two million nautical miles with TSYT. They sail all-year round, empowering young people aged 12–25 (particularly those from disadvantaged background), to increase their life-chances on our transformational voyages. Love Her Wild CIC is delighted to team up with Tall Ships YT, to offer more more (adult) women-only voyages for our community.
