Following the overwhelming response to our First Mountain call out, we’ve put together an expedition for those who still want to make it to the highest peak in Wales. You’ll be joining a supportive group of women and experienced guide to help you reach the top. This hike is designed for beginners.

Snowdon is the perfect mountain to climb for any beginner.

The team will meet at the bus stop (outside the railway station) in llanberis on Saturday at 7.45am. Together you will catch the 8am bus to Pen Y Pass where you will start the hike to the summit.  From the summit you will take the llanberis track which will bring you back to the bus stop where you started. The hike could take anywhere between 6-8 hours.

For the day you’ll need to bring:

– Waterproof jacket and trousers
– Spare fleece jumper
– Spare socks
– T shirt
– Leggings / walking trousers
– Hat & gloves
– Food for lunch and snacks
– 2 litres water / squash
– 25l comfortable rucksack.
– Ankle supported walking boots
– Personal first aid kit (Plasters for blisters and pain killers)
– Walking poles (optional but recommended if you are worried about fitness or your knees!)

This expedition is being led by the brilliant Jan Phillips. Jan lives in North Wales and is an experienced Mountain Leader who knows the area well. She is passionate about getting more women outdoors and will be on hand throughout the journey to help get you ready.

You’ll be part of a team of supportive women who are ready to take on this challenge together. As everyone will be of different fitness levels and experiences, we ask that you approach the challenge with a supportive attitude so as a team you can all help each other reach the summit!
