Midwinter Walk to the Longstone
The Mottistone Longstone has been associated with the solstice and equinox for hundreds of years.
We will meet at Newport bus station and catch the Southern Vectis bus to Mottistone village. From there we will take a walk through the Mottistone Estate to the LongStone and the opportunity to light candles to mark the lengthening of the days ahead, share reflections of the year gone or the future ahead, or just spend time in quiet contemplation.
Bring snacks and a warm toddy or hot drink to enjoy together before returning to Mottistone and the bus ride back to Newport.
The walk will be approx 4 miles, with uneven and wet ground, and steep climbs, so we will be taking it slowly and not leave anyone behind. Sturdy shoes and warm, waterproof clothing are essential. Christmas accessories are optional!
