Darwen Tower Walk

This lovely walk is just over 5 miles long and should take us around 3-3.5 hours (just an estimate!).
We will meet at the free car park at Roddlesworth Information Centre, Tockholes Road, BB3 0PA
What3Words: scrapping.unveils.roofed
Please make sure you don’t park in the front section of the car park which is reserved for cafe patrons.
From there we pass by Earnsdale Reservoir on our way up to the tower. We walk across moorland and sections of both the West Pennine Way and the Witton Weavers Way before descending into Tockholes plantations and returning to the car park.
There are a couple of steepish climbs on this route but we will go as slowly as necessary with plenty of rest breaks.
As we’ll be crossing the moor it’s likely to be wet underfoot in places so please wear walking boots and lots of layers (it always seems colder on the moors) Bring a packed lunch and a drink.
Unfortunately, as we’ll be crossing farmland with sheep and lambs this walk is not suitable for dogs.
Finally, a reminder this is a meetup led by volunteers for like minded people. Therefore you must be competent in your own ability to walk and your own level of fitness. You will be responsible for your own health and safety.
