Coast Path Walk

Fancy a challenge and a good leg stretch?
We’ll catch the train from Burry Port to Ferryside, and then walk back along the coast path. Total distance is approx. 15 miles (shorter option available – see below)
The first section is quite hilly, but in this direction it’ll be mostly downhill (hurray!). From Kidwelly onwards, it’s basically flat.
Terrain:
some road (not too much), hard paths, soft paths, a few miles along the beach at Pembrey.
Things to note:
– Train cost is c.£5. The exact time is subject to (minor) change once Transport for Wales have finalised the 2023 timetable. There is free parking in Burry Port a short walk from the train station, or a pay and display at the station.
– suitable for dogs (as long as they’ll be OK on the train) – but first section is farmland, so leads please! I can’t remember if there are any stiles to get over, but there certainly aren’t loads.
– we may be finishing in the dark, so please bring a headtorch / torch if you’ve got one
Things to bring:
– food. And drinks. And snacks. More snacks.
– clothing suitable for the weather. Think layers! You may get warm walking and cool down quickly if we stop for drinks/food. The beach section is very exposed and if its windy it can be exceedingly cold
If you’ve never walked that far, or are nervous about the distance – DON’T PANIC!
you have a bit of time to prepare for it, and you’ll have super-supportive walking buddies. It absolutely isn’t a route-march or a race!
Shorter Option:
If you want to join us in Kidwelly, you’d be very welcome. It’s about 10 miles from there. If you want to leave a car in Kidwelly, I’m happy to give you a lift back to your car afterwards
If you have any questions or concerns, please do get in touch. It would be really lovely to see you there.
