Family Wild Weekend
FRIDAY 28 MAY – SUNDAY 30 MAY 2021
This is an exciting opportunity for Love Her Wild members and their children to come together for a weekend of camping and bushcraft activities in the beautiful Peak District. It’s our aim to make this weekend inclusive to all, so this event will be open to children of all ages to attend. We understand how difficult it can be for Mum’s with younger children to join organised adventures.
The Plan
We will arrive at the camp late Friday afternoon, with time to pitch up and settle in for the weekend. Starting with a ‘get to know each other’ session around the camp fire, followed by some planned family activities and games for those with energy to burn off.
Saturday will be an early start with a full schedule of bushcraft activities. The day’s activities will range from fire lighting and water purification, to foraging, shelter building, navigation, outdoor cooking… and more.
After a full day of activities, a Saturday night BBQ back at the camp will be a chance to share stories from the day.
Need to know
No previous experience is necessary. Some activities may have age restrictions, although most will be available to all adults and children aged 6 and over.
For the younger children it will be a chance to enjoy time outdoors with their Mum’s and other children. You will remain responsible for the supervision of your own children at all times.
Camping facilities are basic but do include access to toilets and showers as well as running taps.
Start and end point: Consall Scout Camp, Blakely Lane, Dilhorne, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, ST10 2PS
Arrival 4pm and 6pm on the Friday, packing up and leaving late morning on the Sunday.
Meet your leader: Fiona
This expedition will be led by the wonderful Fiona Orrell who believes this weekend is a great opportunity for like-minded Mum’s to join around a campfire with a little adventure thrown in!
It’s not always easy to involve your children in doing the things you love, but having a mix of activities and other children to have fun with turns a little adventure into a BIG ONE!
Kit list
– Camping gear (including tent, sleeping bag and mats)
– Torches
– Stove/cooking equipment
– Cups/plates/bowls/cutlery
– Waterproofs
– Plenty of warm/dry clothing and sensible footwear
– Suncream
– Insect repellent
– Food for all meals and drinks (including snacks to share around the campfire and Meat/veggies for the Saturday night BBQ)
